Stella

Ms. A takes almost daily walks through the alleys and streets of her neighborhood and it has always been her habit to look for interesting bits and pieces. Looking down rather than up is  a fruitful practice because she now assembles the bits she finds into tableaux and colleges which tell a story. I believe the Universe heartily approves of this new calling because A always–without fail–finds the most unusual and strange items in the streets. Her collages range from acrid and biting pokes at life;  poignant but funny medititations of post modern love affairs in the middle aged. What‘s lovely about this practice is Ms. A never set out to be an “Artist“. She was just passing time and messing about and happened to show a friend one of her pieces who knew someone who arranged a small showing of her work last fall. Work constructed of found art by a found artist.

“Stella” is now my totem for realizing this time of my life is not the time to sit back on my heels and just sigh and pine for what could have been but a time to create and re-create the life I want.
