I don’t celebrate Easter and I know I probably should. After all, the tomb was opened and Jesus walked out more or less alive and if that isn’t the grace of God in action…I don’t know what is. (However, I would like to contend, Mommy’s Magic Checkbook has also been a reflection of the unfailing grace of God at my house the last few months)
I have to admit if God really wanted to do something huge She would have sent Xena Warrior Princess to Golgotha to rescue Jesus. I’m thinking just being led through the streets with the cross on his back was enough suffering and frankly, being nailed to the cross was–ahem–overkill. Anyhow, Xena would keen her battle cry, flip up and over while brandishing her chakram at just the right angle so the nails slipped out of his hands while she swung the sword to cast off he robes around his legs! Gabrielle catches him and Joxer is standing by and says something like: “Hay-zues, how’s it hangin’?” Now that would be God working her infinite power.

No worries about me missing May 22nd this year, eh?
